Take Your Extensions From Drab To Fab
Envision seeing someone pass by with long lustrous, shiny, bouncy curls flying in the wind. It’s almost like a slow-motion effect if you ask me. Shiny hair exudes healthy hair and who doesn’t love a full head of healthy-looking hair? There is something about a fresh bundle of extensions ready to be installed. Extensions are always a great way to try out a new style, length, color, while also being a perfect protective style.
However, that luster, sheen, and bounce begin to fade as time passes by. Many people have questions about what to do after time has passed and your extensions no longer offer their show-stopping sheen and radiance that you’ve fallen in love with.
Here are tips for making your weave softer, shinier, and bouncier.
Tips For Softer Weave
High-quality extensions that we provide are always guaranteed to have a long-lasting life span. Blackshow Hair offer a massive selection of high-quality, affordable extensions in a variety of lengths, textures, and colors.
1.Deep Conditioning Your Weave
Applying a deep conditioner weekly to your hair extensions will restore sheen, but also retain the moisture within your hair. The nutrients needed, penetrate the hair shaft, supplying everything your hair will need to avoid dry and brittle strands.
There are numerous ways to apply a deep conditioner. We do suggest that you apply your conditioner from mid-shaft to ends avoiding your roots to avoid product buildup, which leads to bacteria growing! Be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly, revealing softer. Shinier hair extensions!
2.Hair Mask Me Please
Hair masks are truly a treat and much like a deep conditioner, this contains vital ingredients and nutrients that improve shine and luster for your hair extensions. The masks are fairly thicker than deep conditioners and are left on for longer periods of time to ensure all the nutrients needed are placed on the hair.
Look for masks that are natural without synthetic ingredients including avocado, eggs, bananas, and dimethicone. These ingredients help you retain shine and moisture.
Natural Hair Masks
Mayonnaise Masks. These masks are made with egg yolks and mayonnaise. Apply this combination to your extensions thoroughly and leave on for thirty minutes and place a shower cap on your head. This ensures that the heat from your scalp opens the hair shaft and penetrates the hair. Rinse, shampoo and condition as usual.
Aloe Vera Mask. With this mask, it's best to use the Aloe straight from the plant. You can also use pure aloe vera masks straight from the bottle. Apply the gel from midshaft to your tips and allow it to sit for thirty minutes. Rinse thoroughly, shampoo and condition as usual.
Tips For Shinier Weave
1.Oil Treatments
Oil treatments are so beneficial for our skin and hair! There are so many oils to choose from it's really up to preference. These oils can be purchased online or even at your local beauty supply or supermarket. Oils lock in moisture (water) in the hair strand. We all know oil and water do not mix, therefore “sealing” your hair traps the water inside the hair strand providing your hair the sheen we all know and love.
Your hot oil treatments are done either hot or cold, sometimes room temperature, just follows the directions.
2.Deep Conditioning Your Weave
Applying a deep conditioner weekly to your hair extensions will restore sheen, but also retain the moisture within your hair. The nutrients needed, penetrate the hair shaft, supplying everything your hair will need to avoid dry and brittle strands.
There are numerous ways to apply a deep conditioner. We do suggest that you apply your conditioner from mid-shaft to ends avoiding your roots to avoid product buildup, which leads to bacteria growing! Be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly, revealing softer. Shinier hair extensions!
3.Trim Those Ends
Just like your natural hair, your hair extensions will need to be routinely trimmed. Ensuring the health and longevity of the hair. The ends of your extensions are the oldest of hair and come into contact with other fabrics and environmental elements more than the hair closer to your scalp. Damaged hair exudes high porosity, which does not reflect light as we desire it. With trimming your hair, you are removing dead weight that causes strain and damage to your hair extensions. We recommend you cut about `a half an inch to an inch to rid your damaged ends. We know everyone wants to retain length but healthy hair is more beneficial and increases the longevity of your extensions.
4.Brushing and Detangling
Brushing is necessary when looking to bring back the shine to your extensions. When we opt out of brushing our extensions regularly, your hair gets tangled, and tangled hair will then result in dry and brittle hair. Light does not reflect off of rough services, giving your extensions a dull look. To avoid this, use a small amount of oil to your hair and brush with a paddle brush regularly. You should immediately see a difference. Try brushing your hair in the morning and before bed to ensure no tangling or matting.
5.Skip a Shampoo Day
With extensions going outside of your normal wash days are normal. When you shampoo your extensions, you are stripping the natural oils from your hair. Meaning, the more you shampoo your hair, the more your brittle and dry your hair will look and feel. We recommend washing your hair once every week. For your extensions, be sure to use a shampoo specifically formulated to protect and expand the longevity of your extensions.
Tips For Bouncier Extensions
Who doesn’t love a fresh install at the hair salon? The hair is soft, shiny, and has bounce like no other. Over time, you may notice the bounce subsides and your strands turn stiff, resulting in lifeless hair. Targeting the problem is the key to giving your extensions volume again.
Daily styling may be the cause of stiffness. Overusing hair products or oils causes product buildup which leads to stiff hair lacking natural movement and bounce. Some of these products include gel, serums, oils, and hairsprays.
Restoring bounce to your weave requires you to remove product buildup. Cleaning your hair is the best option to give your hair newness alongside proper hair care and maintenance.
Use a sulfate-free shampoo to rid buildup. Once the hair is cleaned allow it to air dry. Once restored, invest in dry shampoo which soaks up oil and fights buildup. Lastly, slack off on the styling products to avoid stiffness, less is more.
