Why Are Kinky, Curly Weave, and Wigs So Popular?

Women cannot stop raving about Kinky Curly hair, and it is no surprise here.  Kinky curly hair weave is on the rise, and we are here for it! Women everywhere are beginning to embrace the natural look, and these hair extensions are perfect for transitioning into a natural style. Kinky hair is known for its natural look and mimic of natural hair, with that being said this is why kinky, curly weaves, sew-ins, and wigs have been gaining so much momentum in the African American hair community.

Everyone Wants A Little Curl In Their Life

Ironically, both relaxed and natural hair ladies are trading their straight, silky smooth hair for bigger, afro-textured hair mainly because of its ability to easily blend into their real hair texture, and it is gorgeous. We know, with every new trend comes some backlash and criticism, this trend is no different. Some may feel that wearing kinky hair extensions are cheating and skipping the entire journey, while on the other hand others have fully embraced it because the maintenance is equal.

The best part of it all is this protective style universal, meaning if you’re a naturalist who’s looking for a protective style or a relaxed lady who’s looking to experiment with bigger hair, this style is for you.

Even if you choose kinky curly hair extensions to experiment with, know that this hair has extra volume, offers a lot of fluff and personality. Whatever curls you have your heart set on, you can never go wrong when choosing  our luxurious kinky curly weaves and wigs.

What is Kinky Curly Hair?

WHAT IS KINKY CURLY HAIR

Kinky curly hair, also referred to as afro kinky hair offers four types of textures, but Brazilian kinky curly hair weave is probably the most popular. It is made with 100% virgin human hair, looks incredibly natural, and is soft as well as delicate.

Afro kinky hair generally is available in 8’ to 26’ inches in lengths. Is tangle free with and has minimum shedding?

How To Maintain Your Hair

Maintaining these weaves are similar to as if you are managing your natural hair, Always finger detangle when it’s possible if that’s not an option try using a wide tooth comb. Also, keeping the hair you’ve left out moisturized is critical.

How To Wash The Kinky Curly Hair

The density and length of your hair will dictate your regimen to washing your extensions.

Step One: Comb the hair, use conditioners to soften the hair and allowing it to be easier to comb.

Step Two: Run warm in a sink and add shampoo.

Step Three: Wash the hair extensions. Make sure you are not rubbing the hair in a circular motion. Shampoos are perfect for keeping your hair clean; however many shampoos contain sulfate that can remove the lustrous oils your extensions will need. Wet the hair and wash the shampoo.

Step Four: Place conditioner in hair and comb through using a wide tooth comb, start from bottom on down. Remember conditioning your extensions will add shine, and gloss as well. However, submerging them in too much conditioner. The correct amount of conditioner will leave your curly extensions looking luxurious, bouncy, shiny, and soft.

Step Five: Rinse the hair with cold water; this helps seal the cuticle.

Step Six: Dry your hair. Allow the hair to air dry!

Maintaining Those Curls

MAINTAINING THOSE CURLS

We know it’s frustrating when you fork out a large amount of money to get your curly bundles and in a few months, the ends are dry and matted together. Investing in quality hair extensions are only one step of the journey. The second part is ensuring your investment last for a long time. Here are a few guidelines for maintaining those curls.

Finger Combing Your Kinky Curly Hair

Finger combing rather than brushing your hair extensions is a must. Brushing while the hair is dry will cause it to frizz out ultimately damage them. If you opt out of finger combing, the hair use a wide tooth comb.

Wash Your Curls Gently

You should wash your hair extensions occasionally just not as much as you would wash your natural hair. Avoid a brush when the hair is dry and wet, finger comb or use a wide tooth comb. Also, avoid rubbing the hair in circular motions, make sure you are gently washing from to bottom.

Air Dry Those Curls

Air drying your kinky curly extensions are vital. After washing your extensions give them a chance to air dry. Using your hair dryer will cause frizziness and dryness within the extensions.

Storing The Curls

When you aren’t out flaunting your hair extensions, how are you storing them? The way your hair extensions are stored are just as crucial in the journey of maintaining them. When they aren’t in use make sure they are clean and store them in a Ziploc bag or on a wig head. Lightly apply some oil before storing the weave; it will be soft, curly, and tangle free.

Water Based Serum For The Shine

Apply some water-based hair serum after washing and before air drying your hair extensions. Remember, less is more, adding too much will leave your hair limp.

Don’t Straighten The Curls To Often.

Curly hair extensions already have gone through a lot of procedures to give them a unique style and look. Using too much heat and styling tools to straighten this hair out is putting undue pressure on the hair. If you can, avoid flat ironing the hair and using heat tools do so, if you do decide to use them use a heat protectant.

Alcohol Based Products Are A No

Alcohol-based hair products are drying and using them on your weave will only dry them out and cause shedding.

Curls Are In!

Hair extensions come in various styles, lengths, textures, and colors, and curls are on the rise. Understanding how to maintain your kinky curls can seem like a huge task, but once you have a regimen that works for you, it’ll become easier.
